Senegal Hosts African Broadcasting Forum to Advance Digital Sovereignty and Strengthen Audiovisual Infrastructure

Senegal has hosted the African Television Forum (FAT Dakar 2025), a major continental gathering dedicated to the strategic role of Terrestrial Digital Television (TNT) in reinforcing Africa’s digital sovereignty, content security, and audiovisual competitiveness. The event was opened by Secretary of State and Government Spokesperson Marie Rose Khady Fatou Faye, alongside senior national and international representatives.

Throughout the forum, speakers stressed that TNT is more than a broadcasting technology—it is a pillar of sovereignty, territorial equity, and economic modernization. Discussions focused on strengthening critical infrastructure, improving cybersecurity, raising service quality, and promoting local audiovisual production. Senegal’s broadcasting operator TDS-SA was highlighted for its continued contributions to the modernization of the country’s media ecosystem.

On the sidelines of the event, Senegal held bilateral meetings with Algeria and Burkina Faso to explore cooperation in regulation, digital dissemination, expertise sharing, and the development of sovereign broadcasting infrastructures. The forum underscored Senegal’s commitment to building a secure, sovereign, and competitive African audiovisual landscape, in alignment with the country’s New Technological Deal.
