Ethio Telecom has inaugurated its third AI-powered super-fast electric vehicle charging station in Addis Ababa, reinforcing its role in Ethiopia’s green transition and expanding the country’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem. Located in the Summit–Fyel Bet area, the new station features advanced artificial intelligence technology that automatically diagnoses vehicle requirements and adjusts charging accordingly—particularly benefiting European EV models that have faced compatibility challenges.
The new hub accommodates 16 vehicles simultaneously, bringing Ethio Telecom’s total EV charging capacity to 48 vehicles across its three stations. Since the first two stations launched in February 2025 along the Bole–Megenagna corridor, they have collectively served more than 165,000 EVs, delivering over 4.34 million kWh of energy and preventing more than 6 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to planting over 30,000 trees.
Equipped with 180KWh super-fast chargers, the new station introduces several high-tech capabilities:
- AI-driven intelligent diagnostics for optimized charging sessions.
- Battery health protection, with zero energy loss and high charging efficiency.
- Modular, scalable architecture for rapid future expansion.
- 24/7 availability with smart, fully digital customer services.
- telebirr SuperApp integration for seamless payments and self-service charging.
- Real-time monitoring and NFC “tap-to-charge” for smart authentication.
Backed by cloud servers over Fiber, 4G, and 5G connectivity, the solution reflects Ethio Telecom’s push to combine sustainability with digital innovation. The new station marks another major step in Ethiopia’s national drive toward clean mobility and a greener economy.
