In a significant step towards Oman’s digital transformation, the Ministry of Labour has signed a cooperation agreement with Omantel. This partnership aims to train and qualify 86 university graduates in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, IoT, and data science.
This initiative underscores Oman’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce and building a knowledge-based economy. By investing in its youth, Oman is positioning itself as a leader in the digital age.
His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Baawain, Minister of Labour, emphasized that the ministry, through this partnership with Omantel, seeks to equip graduates with future skills needed for the modern labor market. He highlighted that this will enable program members to compete for various jobs, particularly those requiring advanced skills.
Talal bin Said Al Mamari, CEO of Omantel, stated that the agreement will enable Omantel to support efforts to develop the skills of Omani youth, providing them with essential labor market competencies. He noted that this agreement aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the National Programme for the Digital Economy. The Omantel Academy, established this year, focuses on developing functional and future skills in line with rapid technological advancements such as virtual simulation, big data analysis, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
