Kuwaiti and Emirati Teams Triumph at Tech4Good Regional Semifinals in Tashkent

In Tashkent, the regional semifinals of the fourth annual Tech4Good Competition, held alongside the Huawei Seeds for the Future 2024 Programme, saw Team Future Gadget Lab from Kuwait and Team Beyond Limits from the United Arab Emirates clinching first and second places, respectively. Celebrated for their innovative technology solutions aiding stroke patients with limited hand mobility, these teams are set to advance to the global finals in China.

The event, a collaborative effort between Huawei and the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, also highlighted other commendable projects from teams across the Middle East. Notably, Team Nabeeh from Saudi Arabia, Team Sufun from Oman, and Team AquaLucens from Bahrain received special recognition for their outstanding contributions.

The ceremony also acknowledged individual participants, with Amanzhan Sabyrgali of Kazakhstan and Zainab Al Zaimoor from Bahrain earning the Mentors’ Favorites accolade for their leadership and positive impact within their teams.

High-profile attendees at the ceremony included Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and Nausheen Adnan, Pakistani Parliament Member and Advisor on Educational Reforms, who both praised the initiative for its role in fostering regional ICT talent and innovation.

Shunli Wang, Vice President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, remarked on the significance of the 2024 program, noting its alignment with major Huawei anniversaries in Uzbekistan. This gathering, he emphasized, was crucial for nurturing ICT skills and empowering youth to lead future digital advancements.

Deputy Minister Karimjonov highlighted Huawei’s contribution to Uzbekistan’s digital transformation, appreciating the platform for challenging students and enhancing their industry knowledge. Nausheen Adnan echoed these sentiments, commending Huawei for enabling regional students to showcase their skills on a global stage and contribute to the digital era.

The week-long Seeds for the Future program engaged 150 students from 14 countries, enhancing their ICT skills and cultural understanding through workshops, competitions, and sessions on 5G, AI, and cloud technologies. The students also had opportunities to interact with industry leaders at Huawei and Artel, further enriching their learning experience.

Since its inception in 2008, Huawei’s Seeds for the Future has engaged over 18,000 students from 141 countries, collaborating with more than 500 universities to cultivate a new generation of ICT leaders. This flagship CSR initiative continues to gain global endorsement and drives significant impact in ICT education worldwide.
