In an effort to bolster security and regulate telecommunications, the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies, together with the National Telecommunications Authority (INT), is cracking down on unregistered SIM cards. Telecom providers have been directed to deactivate any SIM cards that are not properly registered to an individual’s identification.
This enforcement is part of a wider national initiative to ensure that all active telecom lines are associated with verified identities. Services for deactivated SIM cards will be reinstated only after users submit the required identification documents. This move aligns with a growing trend across Africa, where countries are tightening regulations on SIM card usage to enhance security protocols.
