The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has introduced a new awareness campaign, ‘La Tamshi Alaik’ (‘Don’t Let Them Fool You’), in partnership with the Royal Oman Police, Cyber Defence Centre, and telecommunications companies. This initiative aims to tackle the rising issue of cyber fraud by educating the public on preventive measures.
A TRA official stated that the campaign will disseminate various awareness messages highlighting common fraud tactics and offer guidance on how to avoid them. The campaign will also address misleading advertisements, the risks of sharing OTP codes, and the dangers of impersonation on social media platforms.
The campaign is part of TRA’s ongoing efforts to protect users’ rights by identifying fraudulent activities and preventing the exploitation of individuals. It also supports safe digital transformation by educating the public on electronic threats and promoting best practices for maintaining a secure digital environment.
In 2023, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology successfully managed over 460 cybersecurity incidents, further underscoring the importance of initiatives like ‘La Tamshi Alaik’ in safeguarding Oman’s digital landscape.
