SANS Institute Brings World-Class Cybersecurity Training to Qatar with SANS Doha September 2024

Doha, Qatar: SANS Institute, a global leader in cybersecurity education, is set to offer cutting-edge training to professionals in Qatar through SANS Doha September 2024, taking place from 14-19 September at the InterContinental Doha. This program will equip cybersecurity professionals with essential skills to protect Qatar’s critical infrastructure and bolster the country’s growing cybersecurity resilience.

Qatar is ranked among the top 30 countries for cybersecurity investment, holding the 27th position globally according to the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI). The nation’s cybersecurity spending is projected to grow by 12.7% by 2026, highlighting the importance of sector-specific cybersecurity initiatives to safeguard critical operations, financial transactions, and energy grids.

Qatar is actively working to secure businesses of all sizes, with a particular emphasis on supporting SMEs. In collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency, the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) recently launched the Cyber Security Manual for SMEs. This initiative raises awareness about cyber risks and provides practical guidance for implementing basic security measures and improving employee awareness.

Ned Baltagi, Managing Director for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey at SANS Institute, emphasized the urgency of strengthening cybersecurity, particularly in sectors like banking, utilities, and energy that are heavily reliant on digital infrastructure. “As Qatar continues to expand its digital infrastructure, the need for skilled professionals to combat emerging threats has never been greater,” Baltagi said. “Programs like SANS Doha and initiatives such as QDB’s Cybersecurity Manual for SMEs offer invaluable opportunities to enhance cybersecurity skills in the region.”

SANS Doha September 2024 will feature two specialized courses:

  1. SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling – This course focuses on equipping students with the skills to effectively respond to security breaches in Windows, Linux, and cloud environments, providing a deep understanding of attacker tools and techniques, and strategies for building stronger defenses.
