Naver Corp., South Korea’s leading internet platform operator, has signed an initial agreement with Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence (AI) agency to jointly develop an Arabic language-based large language model (LLM). The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed during the Global AI Summit, hosted by the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) in Riyadh earlier this week.
Under the MOU, Naver and SDAIA will collaborate on various technological sectors, including AI, cloud computing, data centers, and robotics. The focus will be on the creation of an Arabic LLM, along with related technology solutions and services.
SDAIA is spearheading Saudi Arabia’s ambitious 2030 plan to create a tech-driven economy. This new collaboration follows an earlier agreement between Naver and the Saudi government, in which Naver is developing a digital twin platform for Riyadh and four other cities.
