Oracle has unveiled the world’s first zettascale cloud computing clusters, featuring the NVIDIA Blackwell platform, marking a significant advancement in AI capabilities within the cloud. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is now offering the most powerful AI supercomputer in the cloud, equipped with up to 131,072 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.
Mahesh Thiagarajan, Executive Vice President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, highlighted the vast AI infrastructure capabilities of OCI, “We are committed to supporting our customers who are tackling some of the most challenging AI workloads in the cloud. Our distributed cloud offers the flexibility for deploying cloud and AI services in preferred locations while maintaining the highest standards of data and AI sovereignty.”
The OCI Supercluster provides an unparalleled 2.4 zettaFLOPS of peak performance, setting a new industry standard. It surpasses the GPU count of the Frontier supercomputer by over three times and exceeds other hyperscalers by more than six times. The OCI Supercluster configuration includes OCI Compute Bare Metal, ultra-low latency RoCEv2 with ConnectX-7 NICs, ConnectX-8 SuperNICs or NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand-based networks, and high-performance computing (HPC) storage options.
Ian Buck, NVIDIA’s Vice President of Hyperscale and High-Performance Computing, emphasized the global implications of this collaboration, “As the demand for AI-driven innovation surges among businesses, researchers, and governments, access to robust computing clusters and AI software becomes essential. Oracle’s widely distributed cloud, equipped with NVIDIA’s comprehensive AI computing platform, will offer unprecedented AI computing power to propel global AI initiatives and accelerate the pace of research, development, and deployment across various sectors.”
Among the early adopters of OCI’s high-performing AI infrastructure are companies like WideLabs and Zoom. Zoom, in particular, is utilizing OCI’s AI capabilities for its Zoom AI Companion, an AI-first collaboration platform that assists users in drafting communications, summarizing meetings, generating ideas, and more, at no additional cost in their paid accounts. This AI tool is now being enhanced with OCI’s data and AI sovereignty features to meet local data handling requirements in regions like Saudi Arabia, ensuring compliance and improved service delivery.
Bo Yan, Head of AI at Zoom, noted the transformative impact of OCI on their operations, “The Zoom AI Companion is transforming organizational workflows by integrating advanced generative AI tools into everyday tasks, thereby enhancing productivity and efficiency. With OCI’s AI inference capabilities, Zoom delivers accurate, low-latency results, enabling unparalleled collaboration and communication enhancements for users worldwide.”
