Orange Jordan has successfully established electronic connections for 1,561 polling and counting centers and 6,000 polling stations across Jordan for the 2024 parliamentary elections. This significant technological effort was part of a collaboration with the Independent Election Commission (IEC) under the “Political Modernisation Programme.”
From March, Orange Jordan worked closely with the IEC to prepare for the elections. This preparation included training around 500 staff from the Ministry of Education and other election personnel from various regions, followed by training over 7,000 ministry employees on the electronic linking processes. This effort ensured that all polling sites were seamlessly connected to the main and backup data centers through a secure network.
Eng. Sami Smeirat, Executive Vice President for Corporate and Enterprise at Orange Jordan, explained that the company dedicated more than 400 staff and experts, who worked around the clock to support the election infrastructure. A special operations room was set up to manage and support all field operations, ensuring the flawless execution of the elections.
Eng. Walid Al-Dolalat, Chief Information Technology and Networks Officer at Orange Jordan, highlighted that the company utilized its digital expertise to ensure a secure and robust connection between polling centers and data centers. The network was designed to adhere to the highest security standards and was equipped with alternative services to guarantee continuous and fast connections, capable of handling the extensive data transfer required on election day.
The IEC commended Orange Jordan for its pivotal role in advancing the digital landscape in Jordan, which not only supported a successful election process but also significantly contributed to the region’s digital advancement. The collaboration between Orange Jordan and the IEC reflects their joint commitment to excellence and their dedication to serving the Jordanian people and the broader region.
