Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications provider, has announced a three-year partnership with global sports brand New Balance, making them the official footwear and apparel partner for the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo. The partnership will begin with the 2025 marathon, scheduled for January 17, 2025.
The signing ceremony featured key figures such as Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari, Ooredoo’s Director of Public Relations, CSR, and Sponsorship, and Stuart Henwood, New Balance’s Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, & India. Representatives from Qatar’s sports community, including Aspire and Al Sadd FC, as well as coaches from the New Balance Run Club in Doha, were also in attendance.
The marathon, which has grown into a major sporting event in the region, is expected to host over 15,000 participants next year. With New Balance’s expertise in supporting international marathons like those in London and New York, the brand will elevate the experience for runners in Qatar, adding significant value to the event.
“We are excited to partner with New Balance, a leader in sports footwear and apparel, to enhance the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo,” said Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo Committee. “Their commitment to innovation and quality will enrich the event, making it an even more prestigious occasion.”
Stuart Henwood echoed this sentiment, emphasizing New Balance’s commitment to promoting a running culture across the MENA region, including through its New Balance Running Community Clubs. The Doha Marathon 2025 will serve as an opportunity for the brand to further engage with running communities in Qatar and beyond.
The marathon will take runners along Doha’s Corniche, offering a scenic route and promoting fitness and community spirit. Ooredoo, with New Balance’s support, aims to expand the marathon’s reach and prestige, attracting global athletes and reinforcing its position as a key event in Qatar’s sporting calendar.
