Federal Tax Authority to Showcase Digital Transformation at GITEX Global 2024

Dubai, UAE – The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) will participate in the 44th GITEX Global 2024, set to begin on Monday, October 14, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The five-day event will feature over 6,500 exhibitors and 1,800 speakers from 180 countries.

At the exhibition, the FTA will highlight its latest initiatives and development plans for digital transformation, in line with the UAE government’s strategy to shift towards smart systems and provide seamless digital services. These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to reduce bureaucracy, offering clients quick, efficient, and smooth transactions.

His Excellency Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the FTA, emphasized the importance of the event:

“By participating in GITEX Global 2024, the world’s largest technology event, we aim to explore innovative digital taxation systems that will further modernize our services. This aligns with our commitment to the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, reducing the time required for accessing government services by 50%. These efforts reflect our leadership’s vision to place the UAE among the world’s leading countries in terms of competitiveness.”

During the event, the FTA will offer a series of workshops and presentations showcasing its advanced digital services. Participants and visitors will have the opportunity to learn about its latest systems and initiatives, including the “Maskan” smart app, launched officially in 2023. The app offers a fully digital, paperless process for recovering VAT paid on new home construction. Other presentations will introduce updates to the “EmaraTax” app, corporate tax registration processes, electronic invoicing, and improvements in service delivery.

The FTA will also collect feedback from visitors, ensuring that user suggestions are integrated into its ongoing service updates to enhance customer satisfaction.

In addition, the FTA will introduce its “My Procedures” Nintex system, powered by artificial intelligence, to manage internal processes, aligning tasks across organizational units efficiently. Enhancements to the FTA’s internal generative AI tools will also be featured.

Established by Federal Decree-Law No. (13) of 2016, the FTA aims to diversify the UAE’s economy and increase non-oil revenues through federal tax management. Since 2017, the FTA has implemented a fully electronic tax system, designed to encourage voluntary compliance with simple procedures, high standards of transparency, and accuracy – from registration to payment of taxes.
