Afghanistan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC), the nation’s leading telecommunications provider, officially launched its 4G internet services in Kabul on Thursday. This service, offering high-speed internet at lower costs, is set to expand throughout the country soon.
Amin Ramin, Managing Director of AWCC, announced, “Today, we have activated 4G internet services capable of reaching speeds up to 300 MB per second in Kabul city, with plans to extend this service to all provinces in the near future.”
Najibullah Azizi, Afghanistan’s Minister of Communication and Technology, described the introduction of 4G by AWCC as a pivotal move for economic growth. He stated, “The launch of 4G internet services marks another significant advancement in our infrastructural and service development efforts.”
4G, known as the fourth generation of mobile networks, follows the third generation (3G) and provides users with faster, more reliable mobile broadband internet for devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
Since its inception in April 2002, when it introduced the country’s first wireless communication services, Afghan Wireless has become the largest telecommunication services provider in Afghanistan.
