Egypt has climbed three spots in the global rankings for fixed internet speed, achieving an average speed of 76.38 Mbps in September 2024, according to the Ookla Speedtest Index. The country now ranks 70th worldwide and continues to lead Africa in fixed internet performance.
The communications and information technology sector has made concerted efforts to enhance internet services across the country. Over the past five years, this sector has consistently been the fastest-growing in Egypt, focusing on providing high-quality internet services and advancing 5G technology.
Further highlighting the sector’s achievements, Telecom Egypt recently received the Best Global Connectivity Provider-Data award at the Global Connectivity Awards in London. Competing against six major international telecommunications companies, Telecom Egypt’s success was attributed to its robust network infrastructure.
