The National Center for Curriculum Development in Jordan has integrated programming and artificial intelligence (AI) into its newly developed digital skills curriculum for seventh, ninth, and eleventh grades. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the education system and align it with global technological advancements.
In a statement released on Sunday, the center announced that the incorporation of programming and AI is part of a comprehensive plan to update textbooks for this subject over the next two years.
The primary goal is to enhance students’ digital skills and prepare a generation capable of effectively engaging with modern technology, while also emphasizing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
The newly developed digital skills textbooks, covering grades one through twelve, introduce a wide range of essential and advanced technological skills that were previously missing from Jordanian curricula. Topics now included are the Internet of Things (IoT), AI, cloud computing, and programming with Python, which is recognized as one of the most important languages in the fields of AI and cybersecurity.
