Oman Concludes Registration for Digital Transformation Ambassador Initiative

Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has officially closed registration for its ‘Governorate Ambassadors Initiative for Digital Transformation,’ an essential component of the Government Digital Transformation Programme – Tahweel.

This initiative is designed to enhance digital transformation efforts across Oman and raise public awareness about the advantages of smart and digital services.

Eng Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman al Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment at MTCIT, reported that the initiative attracted considerable interest, with over 520 participants registering.

He explained that selected ambassadors will receive specialized training to effectively guide their communities in utilizing technology and digital services, thereby contributing to the digital economy and improving overall quality of life.

A total of 66 ambassadors will be selected from various governorates, categorized into three skill levels. ‘Initiator’ ambassadors will possess basic knowledge of digital transformation, while ‘Advanced’ ambassadors will have intermediate experience in fields such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, application development, and cloud computing.

The ‘Specialist’ level will be designated for candidates with extensive expertise in digital transformation, backed by relevant academic and professional qualifications.

Each group of ambassadors will undertake different responsibilities, from raising awareness about digital services to promoting the use of smart applications and electronic payment systems. Their training will include skills in creating digital content, using modern technologies, and applying artificial intelligence, ensuring they are well-equipped to support the country’s digital transformation initiatives.

This initiative represents a significant advancement in the Sultanate’s efforts to embrace digital living and cultivate a tech-savvy society, positioning the nation for further development in its digital economy.
