Muscat, Oman – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in collaboration with SAS Media Company, has launched the “Oman Conference on Generative Artificial Intelligence – The Future of the Smart Economy 2024.” This two-day event brings together local and international experts to discuss the transformative potential of generative AI in driving economic growth and innovation in Oman.

The conference, held under the patronage of H.E. Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, aims to explore how AI technologies can be harnessed to accelerate Oman’s digital transformation and establish its position as a regional leader in the field.

H.E. Dr. Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology in MTCIT, delivered a keynote address highlighting global AI trends and emphasizing the importance of Oman’s National Programme for AI and Advanced Digital Technologies. He outlined key projects aimed at integrating AI solutions across various sectors in the country.

The conference also features a technical exhibition showcasing the latest AI innovations and smart solutions developed by Omani technology companies, providing a platform for local talent and innovation.

Specialized workshops on Thursday will delve into the practical applications of AI technologies. One workshop will focus on financial technologies (FinTech) in the AI era, exploring advancements in financial services and promoting innovation.
