Emirati operator Khazna Data Centers has announced its plans for a 100MW data center in Ajman, UAE. In a recent LinkedIn post, the company revealed that this AI-optimized facility will be the largest in its current portfolio.
The Ajman data center will consist of 20 data halls, each featuring 5MW of IT capacity, and will receive electricity from Etihad Water and Electricity. Further details regarding the facility’s timeline and additional specifications have yet to be disclosed.
Earlier this year, Khazna launched a 40MW facility in Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City and announced plans for another 30MW facility in the same region. The company currently operates 12 data centers across the UAE, with a total planned capacity of 300MW.
The increase in facilities is attributed to Khazna’s merger with G42 and Etisalat Group, first announced in October 2021, which has made it the largest data center provider in the UAE. Additionally, Khazna is developing a facility in Cairo, Egypt.
In a separate initiative, Khazna has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cyprus to develop critical digital infrastructure on the island. The MoU was signed by Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna, and Nicodemos Damianou, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy in Cyprus.
Damianou expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to enter this promising collaboration with Khazna, the largest data center operator in the UAE, and a notable member of the G42 conglomerate.” He added that this partnership will lay the groundwork for exploring synergies in areas beyond infrastructure, such as artificial intelligence, smart mobility, and space solutions, which are vital to Cyprus’s vision of becoming digitally advanced.
In a LinkedIn post, Alnaqbi remarked that Khazna is eager to contribute to Cyprus’s digital transformation efforts by providing innovative solutions that will strengthen the island’s position as a technology hub. Cyprus is strategically important for submarine cables, hosting more than 10 cable landings, including the Blue, Peace, Poseidon, Tamares North, and SeaMeWe-3 cables. Grid Telecom and Tamares Telecom are currently enhancing a cable landing station in Cyprus to support regional digital expansion.
