Under the theme ‘TechXelerate,’ Omantel hosted its annual Technology Summit on Tuesday evening, bringing together senior officials and decision-makers from across Oman. The summit aimed to showcase the company’s latest innovations and integrated telecom and ICT solutions, particularly those designed for government institutions and private sector organizations, to support Oman’s digital transformation journey.
The event featured an engaging 3D mapping video that provided an innovative perspective on Omantel’s integrated ecosystem and the digital solutions offered through its subsidiaries, bolstered by its global partnerships.
A keynote speech was delivered by Mohammad Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer at Google X, followed by a panel discussion with Talal al Mamari, CEO of Omantel. They explored Omantel’s evolution from a telecommunications company to a leading provider of integrated telecom and ICT solutions, emphasizing the company’s proactive role in advancing digital transformation in Oman.
Mamari stated, “Digital technologies and innovative solutions are essential for supporting the overall journey of digital transformation. As the key enabler of this transformation in Oman, we are dedicated to keeping our government and major private sector clients informed about the latest technologies and how they can meet diverse institutional needs while advancing their digital initiatives.”
The summit also highlighted the ‘Intakhib’ system, implemented by Omantel in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior. This system digitizes the voting process for the Shura Council, enhancing integrity and transparency while facilitating citizen participation both inside and outside Oman. The Intakhib system incorporates advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to ensure high levels of security.
Omantel boasts the most extensive telecommunications network in Oman, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and fiber optics. It is also a leading player in the region for wholesale and international connectivity services, investing in over 20 submarine cable systems.
