To acknowledge the significant advancements in enhancing cybersecurity within Pakistan’s telecom sector, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) held the Cybersecurity Awards 2024 in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, commended the industry’s commitment and reiterated the government’s vision for a robust cybersecurity framework, which is vital for Pakistan’s economic and digital stability.
In his keynote address, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman HI(M), Chairman of PTA, emphasized the authority’s initiatives aimed at fostering a proactive cybersecurity culture and the importance of collaboration to ensure a secure sector.
During the event, shields were awarded to top-ranking telecom entities and key stakeholders in recognition of their contributions to improving Pakistan’s Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) ranking.
The occasion also saw the launch of the Cybersecurity Annual Report 2024, which outlines PTA’s initiatives in detail. The report, along with information on rankings, will be accessible on the PTA website.
