Zain has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kuwait University to support the development of the knowledge economy in Kuwait. This partnership aims to enhance collaboration in innovation, science, and technology while building youth capacities, particularly in digital skills, to prepare them for success in the workforce.
The MoU was signed at Sabah Al-Salem University City in Shadadiya and attended by key figures including Kuwait University’s Acting President, Prof. Osama Al-Saeed; Zain Kuwait’s CEO, Nawaf Al-Gharabally; and other university and Zain representatives.
This initiative builds on the long-standing strategic partnership between Zain and Kuwait University, which has previously resulted in numerous successful initiatives and community programs, reflecting their shared vision of advancing Kuwait’s innovation ecosystem. Together, they aim to drive growth in science, technology, and innovation—essential sectors for today’s job market.
Under the MoU, Zain and Kuwait University will intensify their joint efforts to accelerate the knowledge economy in Kuwait, focusing on knowledge, information, and innovation as primary growth drivers. The organizations will launch initiatives aimed at education, training, and skill development to foster creativity and innovation. By leveraging modern technologies and information-sharing platforms, they intend to make knowledge more accessible, support scientific research, and enhance competitiveness among youth, students, and graduates.
This collaboration exemplifies the commitment of both public and private sectors to support national development goals, primarily through investments in human capital to achieve sustainable economic and social growth.
Additionally, this MoU contributes to Zain’s Innovation Nation initiative, aligning with its strategic vision for sustainability. These programs are designed to support innovation, entrepreneurship, empower startups, share private sector expertise, promote a creative environment, and invest in digital skills, particularly in STEM fields.
The ongoing partnership between Zain and Kuwait University has led to successful programs such as Zain’s collaboration with the Kuwait National Robotics Competition (KNRC) for the second consecutive year. This initiative, conducted with the Computer Science Department at Kuwait University’s College of Science, the Youth Public Authority, and the Ministry of Education, aims to inspire Kuwaiti students’ passion for technology, foster creative thinking, and help them pursue careers in STEM fields.
The success of this initiative is underscored by Kuwait University’s team winning the Build Award at the VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States, following months of hard work and creativity.
