Sharjah, UAE – The Sharjah Communication Technology Authority (SCTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BEEAH and Khazna Data Centers to develop data centers in Sharjah. This partnership will focus on advancing technological infrastructure and driving digital transformation in the Emirate.
The collaboration will initially focus on developing a data center in Kalba, which is expected to become Sharjah’s largest. This project was initially announced in 2022 as a joint venture between BEEAH and Khazna, with plans for a 9MW facility. The SCTA is now joining this project, bringing its expertise in digital infrastructure development.
“The MoU between the SCTA and the joint venture of BEEAH and Khazna marks a pivotal milestone for both SCTA and the Government of Sharjah,” said Rashid Ali Al Ali, Executive Director of SCTA.
The partnership aims to create future-ready digital infrastructure that can support advanced technologies like AI and blockchain while prioritizing sustainability. The data centers will explore waste-to-energy solutions, greywater recycling systems, and other technologies to minimize their environmental impact.
“Together, I am confident that we can create the future-ready digital infrastructure that is needed to fully leverage technologies such as AI and Blockchain while prioritizing sustainability and having a positive impact on digital transformation initiatives in Sharjah and the wider region,” added Al Ali.
The SCTA is a government-owned entity dedicated to advancing digital infrastructure and data center ecosystems in Sharjah. BEEAH Group is a leading environmental and waste management company operating across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. Khazna Data Centers is an Emirati data center operator with a growing portfolio of facilities in the region.
This collaboration brings together key players with expertise in technology, sustainability, and infrastructure development. By combining their strengths, the partners aim to create a robust and sustainable data center ecosystem that supports Sharjah’s digital transformation goals.
