Zong, Pakistan’s leading data network, has partnered with ZTE Corporation to introduce an industry-first innovation in the country’s telecom sector. This marks Zong as the first operator in Pakistan to offer the Omni 12T12R UBR Site, a cutting-edge solution developed by ZTE.
The Omni 12T12R UBR Site supports 1.8 GHz and 2.1 GHz dual bands, offering the flexibility to deploy either a 4T3S site (3 sectors with 4T4R per sector) or a 2T6S site (6 sectors with 2T2R per sector). The system is compatible with 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies and is future-ready for upcoming network advancements.
The Omni 12T12R UBR site offers significant improvements over traditional 4T4R UBRs. It reduces the number of Remote Radio Units (RRUs) by 67%, resulting in a corresponding 67% reduction in tower rent costs for RRUs and a 26% reduction in RRU weight. This leads to more efficient use of tower space and lower rental expenses. Additionally, the solution has increased data traffic by 17% and boosted average downlink user throughput by 29%.
Zong and ZTE are committed to driving technological innovation in the telecommunications sector, focusing on enhancing network capabilities and delivering an improved user experience. Together, they aim to continue exploring and deploying innovative wireless technologies in Pakistan.
