The CEO of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Mohamed Shamroukh, announced the agency’s initial approval to raise telecommunications service prices in Egypt. This decision was revealed during the Fifth Generation session at the Cairo ICT 2024 exhibition on Monday.
Shamroukh explained that the price hike is a response to the rising operating costs faced by mobile companies. He emphasized that the NTRA acknowledges the right of companies to adjust service prices in line with these increased expenses.
The CEO further stated that the agency is currently evaluating the optimal timing to implement the price increase, ensuring that consumer interests are carefully considered in the process.
