The Ministry of IT & Telecom confirmed that Google contributed significantly to job creation in Pakistan, facilitating around 864,600 jobs through Google search and ads, while Android played a key role in generating an additional 100,400 jobs in the app economy in 2023.
In response to a query from Senator Poonjo Bheel, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja explained that the Ministry of IT & Telecom had collaborated with Google’s administration to verify the exact number of jobs created or facilitated for Pakistanis within the digital business sector.
However, the exact number of youth from Sindh, particularly from the Mirpurkhas Division, who benefited from this opportunity, remains unconfirmed. The Ministry has followed up with relevant authorities to obtain more precise data on the beneficiaries from Sindh, with a special focus on the Mirpurkhas Division. Ms. Khawaja assured that further details would be shared with the House once the required information is available.
