Alimak Group Partners with Skyline Robotics for Automated Building Maintenance Units

Alimak Group and Skyline Robotics have entered into a five-year exclusive partnership to develop automated Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) for permanent facade access. As part of the agreement, Alimak Group is also making a minor, undisclosed investment in Skyline Robotics.

This collaboration leverages Alimak Group’s expertise in vertical access solutions and Skyline’s robotics capabilities. The primary goal of the project is to create an integrated robotic BMU for automated window cleaning and facade maintenance.

Philippe Gastineau, Senior EVP of Alimak Group’s Facade Access division, emphasized the company’s significant investment in technology for the construction and infrastructure sectors. “We are thrilled to work with Skyline Robotics, a recognized leader in robotic solutions for window cleaning and facade maintenance, to enhance our solutions and better align them with our clients’ modern asset management strategies,” said Gastineau.

Skyline Robotics’ flagship product, Ozmo, is a high-rise window cleaning robot. CEO Michael Brown noted, “Together, we are delivering a transformational solution that will benefit the entire global real estate value chain.”

In addition, Alimak Group’s Facade Access division has introduced a mechatronic BMU with multi-axis controls for the construction and infrastructure industries. This new system offers advantages such as simplified user operation, 20% reduced weight, and 30% lower CO₂ emissions compared to traditional telescopic jib BMUs.

Gastineau further commented, “Our new mechatronic BMU is a testament to the advanced technology we are bringing to the market, making our solutions more user-friendly, sustainable, and easier to install and operate.”
