Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held a meeting on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat to discuss key digital transformation initiatives and ongoing national projects.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and other government agencies, particularly regarding the ministry’s digital transformation efforts. The meeting also covered plans for the development of national post offices, initiatives to expand Egypt’s mobile phone manufacturing sector, and efforts to localize production.
President Al-Sisi emphasized the importance of continuing the transition towards an integrated digital society, which includes improving digital services, strengthening data governance, and expanding training programs to build digital capabilities. He highlighted the role of applied technology schools and Egypt Digital Creativity Centers in providing youth with the skills needed to access employment opportunities, according to Presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Menshawy.
The President stressed the need to strengthen programs focused on data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. He also pointed out the importance of attracting more international research and development centers to Egypt, particularly those with expertise in communications and information technology.
During the meeting, Al-Sisi was briefed on Egypt’s digital strategy, which aims to boost the outsourcing industry and attract international companies to expand operations in the country. The discussions also touched upon efforts to enhance communication services’ coverage and quality, ensuring that citizens receive high-quality, efficient services.
Al-Sisi directed the continuation of efforts to expand communications services nationwide, emphasizing service quality and encouraging both local and international investments in the ICT sector. He called for intensified efforts to improve Egypt’s position in global telecommunications indicators, aiming to make the country a regional hub for communications, digital activities, and information technology services.
Additionally, the President was updated on the progress of the second version of Egypt’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. Set for launch soon, the strategy will focus on using AI technologies to solve societal challenges and provide innovative solutions across various sectors. It will also continue to support advanced computing infrastructure for both government and private sectors, including startups and SMEs, aligning with national economic development goals.
