On December 6, 2024, the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) formalized a significant partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing space science and technology. The signing ceremony, held during the state visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to Algeria, was co-chaired by Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Azzedine Oussedik, Director General of ASAL, and Mr. Humbulani Mudau, Director General of SANSA. This agreement focuses on fostering collaboration for peaceful purposes, with joint projects planned in space technologies and applications. It also emphasizes the exchange of expertise and information between the two nations.
This partnership highlights Algeria and South Africa’s shared commitment to using space science as a tool for mutual growth and regional development.
