Muscat – Oman will host the largest annual meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) from October 25 to 30, 2025, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. This prestigious event, organized by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), will gather global stakeholders, including government officials, private sector leaders, civil society members, and technical experts.
The ICANN meeting is a key forum for discussing Internet governance, policy development, and the global Domain Name System (DNS). It aims to shape global policies, enhance transparency, promote capacity building, and foster consensus on decisions that will keep pace with technological advancements. By hosting this significant event, Oman will solidify its role as a regional technology and communications hub.
ICANN’s meetings are essential for progressing policy work, exchanging best practices, and promoting multistakeholder engagement in the global Internet governance ecosystem. Founded in 1998, ICANN is responsible for managing the DNS and distributing Internet addresses (IP) globally, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the stability and security of the Internet.
