Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has approved modifications to the wholesale services provided by BNET to internet service providers, aimed at enhancing consumer and business fibre broadband services. This decision will result in more than doubling the speed of fibre broadband services without additional costs for consumers.
The TRA emphasized that broadband connectivity is key to driving participation in the digital economy, and the approved changes align with Bahrain’s ambition to become one of the best-connected nations globally while ensuring competitive pricing. The country, known for its advanced communications market, already boasts nationwide 5G coverage and widespread fibre broadband access, offering consumers a wide array of high-quality services.
Philip Marnick, General Director of the TRA, highlighted that the changes ensure Bahrain remains globally competitive, not only in pricing but also in the development and investment in telecommunications networks. The TRA’s decision is part of Bahrain’s broader effort to maintain a robust telecommunications environment that supports both economic growth and consumer satisfaction.
The TRA remains focused on ensuring that Bahrain retains its position as a leader in digital connectivity, both regionally and globally, fostering a competitive market for its consumers.
