Startup Grind Qatar Celebrates Tech Innovation with Inaugural Community Awards

Startup Grind Qatar, the local chapter of the global startup community, hosted its inaugural Tech Startup Community Awards Programme on January 13 to recognize outstanding contributions to Qatar’s tech ecosystem. The event, supported by Arisio.io, a startup collaboration and data platform, celebrated individuals and startups driving innovation and growth.

The awards aimed to highlight the power of collaboration and innovation within the local ecosystem, with a focus on community success. “Community is at the heart of everything we do at Startup Grind Qatar,” said the SGQ Chapter Director. “These awards are not just about recognising excellence; they’re about showcasing the collaborative spirit in our local ecosystem.”

HE Sheikh Mansoor Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Chairman of MBK Holdings, attended the event as Guest of Honour and emphasized the crucial role of community in building a successful ecosystem. He stated that the people within a community are key to creating a thriving entrepreneurial environment.

The awards featured multiple categories to ensure diverse contributions were acknowledged, including:

  • Mentor of the Year: Marcel Dridje
  • Startup Trainer of the Year: Emad Saif
  • Idea Stage Startup of the Year: Tatami
  • Growth Stage Startup of the Year: SkipCash
  • Tech Disruptor of the Year: Tenn.Ai
  • Most Value-Added Investor: Qatar Development Bank
  • Female Founder of the Year: Reema Al Kuwari
  • Breakthrough Startup of the Year: Wqtah

The inaugural event saw over 150 nominations from the local community, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit in Qatar. The ceremony took place at Workinton, with a large gathering of Qatar’s startup community in attendance.

The event also recognized the key partners and sponsors of Startup Grind Qatar, acknowledging their vital support in fostering entrepreneurship. The partners include Workinton Qatar, eHARIS, The Founder Majlis, Innovation Café, Mangusteen, Google Developers Group Qatar, The Observatory of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Business Startup Qatar.
