Oracle Expands Cloud and AI Infrastructure in UAE to Meet GCC’s Growing Demand

Oracle is significantly boosting its infrastructure capacity in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi, increasing it by fivefold to keep up with the region’s rapid adoption of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The company is expanding its data centres with additional GPUs and anticipates rising demand in the region.

Richard Smith, Oracle’s executive vice president for technology in EMEA, highlighted that the demand for AI and cloud solutions in the Middle East is soaring, driven by transformative national initiatives such as Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the UAE’s national goals. The region’s AI adoption is one of the fastest globally, reshaping the technology landscape.

Oracle is positioning itself to meet this demand through key AI partnerships with companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Meta. The company’s Alloy platform is designed to support sovereign cloud solutions, addressing the region’s data sovereignty requirements by ensuring sensitive data stays within national borders. Oracle has signed several sovereign agreements, including partnerships with STC in Saudi Arabia, du in the UAE, and others in Bahrain and Kuwait.

Telecommunications provider du is leveraging Oracle Alloy to offer sovereign AI and cloud capabilities to government, business, and public sector clients. This platform allows du to run AI-driven services from its UAE-based data centres, giving customers greater control over their operations and security.

The GCC’s shift towards sovereign cloud solutions is accelerating digital transformation while balancing modernization with data security. Oracle’s cloud solutions help organizations in the region transition from on-premise systems to dynamic cloud platforms that incorporate AI capabilities.
