Jordan’s mobile broadband subscriptions reached 8.259 million in the third quarter of 2024, with prepaid users making up 70% of the market and postpaid subscribers accounting for 30%, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC).
Voice and data packages comprised the majority of mobile subscriptions at 84%, while data-only lines made up 16%. Mobile voice traffic reached 7.1 billion minutes in Q3, with domestic calls representing 97% and international calls making up 3%. Additionally, users sent a total of 334 million SMS messages. Mobile penetration stood at 70.8% of the total population, and 108.9% among those aged 15 and above.
The adoption of 5G technology showed impressive growth, with subscriptions rising by 37% to 70,422 from 51,491 in the previous quarter. Mobile broadband data consumption also saw a notable increase, reaching 653 million gigabytes, up from 627 million in Q2.
In fixed-line services, the total number of subscriptions reached 485,000, with a 20% household penetration rate. Residential subscriptions made up 67%, while commercial subscriptions represented 33%. Fixed-line users made 12.5 million minutes of calls, with domestic calls accounting for 84% and international calls 16%.
Fixed broadband internet subscriptions grew to 800,000, reflecting a 33% household penetration, up from 793,000 in Q2. Fiber optic services continued to lead the market with a 71.7% share, totaling 573,000 subscriptions, up from 556,000 in Q2. Fixed Broadband Wireless Access held 17.8% of the market, while xDSL made up 9.9%.
Fixed broadband data consumption reached 1.352 billion gigabytes, up from 1.289 billion in Q2, with the average monthly usage per subscription increasing to 564GB from 542GB. Leased line services also saw a slight increase, with 23,739 subscriptions, compared to 23,011 in Q2.
