VA Tech Wabag Secures $14 Million O&M Contract in Bahrain

VA Tech Wabag (WABAG) has won a $14 million (Rs 121 crore) contract from BAPCO Refining B.S.C (BAPCO) for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of an Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP) in Bahrain. The seven-year contract highlights WABAG’s expertise in wastewater management and strengthens its footprint in the region’s water treatment sector.

The IWTP, equipped with advanced Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology, has the capacity to treat 4,400 US gallons per minute (USGPM) of wastewater. This technology ensures high treatment efficiency, meeting stringent environmental and industrial regulations. The contract adds to WABAG’s successful O&M portfolio in Bahrain, which also includes managing the 40 MLD Madinat Salman Sewage Treatment Plant since November 2018.

The announcement of the contract led to an over 8% increase in WABAG’s shares, reaching Rs 1,312.10. Srinivasan K, General Manager of WABAG’s Middle East Regional Headquarters, expressed gratitude to BAPCO for their trust, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering world-class water solutions to the global oil and gas sector.
