Jordan Sees Significant Growth in Internet and Social Media Usage in 2025

AMMAN — The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) reported a significant surge in internet and social media usage across the Kingdom since the beginning of 2025. According to the annual DataReportal report, the number of internet users in Jordan reached 10.7 million, representing a penetration rate of 92.5 percent of the total population. Social media users rose to 6.45 million, making up 55.7 percent of the population, with an annual increase of 70,000 users, growing at a rate of 1.1 percent.

YouTube continued to be the most popular platform with 6.45 million users, seeing a growth of 70,000 users (1.1 percent). Facebook followed closely with 5.45 million users, an increase of 150,000 users (2.8 percent), resulting in a penetration rate of 47.1 percent. Instagram also experienced a notable rise, reaching 4.05 million users, growing by 350,000 users (9.5 percent). Snapchat saw significant growth, with 4.1 million users and an 18.4 percent increase, equating to 635,000 new users.

TikTok, however, faced a decline, losing 376,000 users (14.1 percent) to settle at 2.3 million users. Messenger also saw a dip of 2.6 percent, bringing its user base to 3.8 million, and X (formerly Twitter) saw a 16 percent reduction, with its user base dropping to 919,000. In contrast, LinkedIn showed impressive performance, gaining 400,000 new users in 2024 to reach a total of 2 million users, marking a 25 percent growth rate.

The digital expansion underlines Jordan’s growing adoption of modern technology, highlighting the need for enhanced digital infrastructure and further investment in digital transformation to strengthen the national digital economy.
