Thuraya Unveils Thuraya One Smartphone with Satellite Connectivity at MWC 2025

Thuraya, the satellite mobility arm of Space42, has launched the Thuraya One, an Android 14 smartphone with integrated satellite capabilities, allowing users to stay connected beyond cellular coverage. The device, showcased at Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, leverages 5G, 4G, and Thuraya’s satellite network, including the new Thuraya 4 satellite, to ensure reliable coverage in remote areas.

The Thuraya One smartphone features dual-mode communication technology, which allows users to seamlessly switch between cellular and satellite networks. This integration eliminates the need for separate satellite devices when traveling to areas without cellular coverage. The phone also supports SIM cards from over 370 Thuraya roaming partners, combining cellular and satellite communication into a single device.

Thuraya One combines the functionality of a high-performance Android smartphone with satellite communication, offering a durable design with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, Qualcomm Octa-core processor, and a 50MP camera system. It is waterproof and dustproof (IP67 rated) and offers up to 26 hours of talk time in 5G mode. Thuraya One is available through a global network of over 140 service partners and distributors.

Ali Al Hashemi, CEO of Yahsat Space Services, emphasized that the Thuraya One accelerates Thuraya’s strategy as a Non-Terrestrial Networks operator, enabling seamless, uninterrupted connectivity for users worldwide.
