Honor has revealed its new corporate strategy, transitioning from a smartphone manufacturer to a global AI device ecosystem company. The Honor Alpha Plan, announced ahead of MWC 2025 in Barcelona, outlines a transformative three-step roadmap to create an AI-powered ecosystem across smartphones, PCs, tablets, and wearables. This ambitious transformation is backed by a $10bn investment over the next five years, aimed at revolutionizing human-device interaction.
James Li, CEO of Honor, highlighted the impact AI will have on the device industry, productivity, society, and culture, calling for collective action to harness the opportunities and address the challenges of AI technology.
The Honor Alpha Plan consists of three phases:
- Intelligent Phone Development: Honor will collaborate with partners to create a new AI paradigm, focusing on human-centric AI that enhances human potential.
- AI Ecosystem Expansion: The company will open industry boundaries to co-create a connected ecosystem spanning smartphones, PCs, tablets, wearables, and hearables.
- Human Potential Maximisation: In the AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) era, Honor aims to unlock human potential and co-create a new civilization paradigm.
At the announcement, Honor showcased several key AI innovations:
- The world’s first GUI-based personal mobile AI agent, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and Qualcomm Technologies
- AiMAGE, a new imaging technology powered by Honor’s AI Kernel for both on-device and cloud AI models
- All-ecosystem file-sharing technology for ultra-fast transfers between iOS and Android devices
- AI Deepfake detection technology for flagship devices
Honor’s plan also emphasizes extensive industry collaboration, with representatives from Google Cloud, Qualcomm Technologies, CKH Group, Orange, Telefónica, and Vodafone joining to support the creation of the AI device ecosystem.
In addition to the AI-driven transformation, Honor announced new consumer commitments, including seven years of Android OS and security updates for its Honor Magic series in the EU. The company also accelerated its sustainability initiatives, targeting carbon neutrality by 2040 and supply chain carbon neutrality by 2050.
The Alpha Plan is expected to bolster Honor’s position in the AI-enabled device market throughout 2025 and beyond, building on the company’s success as the fifth-largest AI-capable Android smartphone vendor globally in 2024.
