Nepal Telecom has reversed its decision to set a minimum top-up amount of Rs 50 for digital top-ups. The telecom company has re-implemented the previous system, allowing customers to top up their accounts starting from just Rs 10 through mobile wallets and mobile banking services.
The change comes after backlash from customers, and the telecom company confirmed the decision was withdrawn. Nepal Telecom’s spokesperson, Hari Dhakal, confirmed that the Rs 50 minimum price requirement for electronic top-ups had been revoked, allowing customers to use platforms like eSewa, Khalti, IME Pay, and others for lower top-up amounts.
This move is expected to improve convenience for users who wish to add smaller amounts to their prepaid accounts, especially for those who rely on mobile wallets for everyday transactions.
