Ooredoo’s 5G Expansion: Enhancing Customer Experience and Digital Transformation in Oman

Ooredoo has made significant strides in its 5G rollout, positioning it as a crucial element in enhancing customer experience, business-to-business (B2B) solutions, and driving digital transformation in Oman. Chief Commercial Officer Quique Vivas emphasized that the 5G expansion is not just about speed but about providing customers with a fantastic experience and improving connectivity.

The rollout has focused on three key areas: enhancing fixed wireless access, enabling high-speed applications for businesses, and expanding mobile coverage. By migrating users from 4G to 5G, Ooredoo has greatly improved internet quality and data consumption. Vivas also highlighted the successful deployment of initiatives like Hala+ in the prepaid market and improvements to roaming services, based on customer feedback.

Ooredoo has invested in AI to further enhance customer service, contributing to a 22% increase in net incremental revenue last year. While AI chatbots are still evolving, the company plans to continue investing in automation to enhance customer experience.

Sustainability has also become a central part of Ooredoo’s strategy, with efforts focused on providing connectivity to underserved areas and bridging the digital divide. The company is committed to ensuring that its business practices not only support growth but also contribute positively to society.

Ooredoo is midway through a three-year restructuring plan, achieving significant customer experience improvements and market share growth. The company has also made progress in expanding fiber internet adoption, with a focus on educating customers on the benefits of fiber over 4G.

As Oman accelerates its digital transformation, Ooredoo is further expanding its role in the B2B sector, particularly in IoT, cloud computing, and Industry 4.0 solutions. With a strong emphasis on 5G deployment, customer-centric strategies, and sustainable practices, Ooredoo is positioning itself as a key enabler of Oman’s digital future.
