In January and February 2025, Jordan imported approximately 259,000 mobile devices worth around JD26 million, according to the Vision Association for Investors in Mobile Devices and Accessories. While imports dropped compared to the same period last year (334,000 devices), the total value of imports increased from JD24.5 million to JD26 million.
Ahmad Alloush, head of the association, attributed this shift to consumer demand for higher-value and premium-brand devices. The increased demand for these types of phones led to a lower number of devices being imported, but a rise in the overall value. He also pointed out that global price fluctuations, inflation, and rising production and shipping costs may have contributed to the change.
In 2024, Jordan’s total mobile device imports amounted to JD176 million for 1.855 million devices, marking a 13.7% increase in value compared to 2023. Alloush highlighted that this growth represents a positive shift in the market, with improved demand and higher-value imports following years of decline.
