Presight’s AIQ Signs $340 Million Deal with Adnoc to Deploy AI Solutions Across Upstream Operations

Abu Dhabi-based Presight, a leader in big data analytics powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), has announced a groundbreaking $340 million contract for its key unit, AIQ, with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). The contract will see the deployment of AIQ’s advanced solutions across Adnoc’s upstream value chain.

This three-year deal will see AIQ implement its ENERGYai technology and a suite of related AI tools across Adnoc’s upstream operations, optimizing efficiency and driving transformation. ENERGYai combines large language model (LLM) technology with agentic AI, tailored for specific workflows within Adnoc’s upstream sector. The system is built on 70 years of proprietary data and expertise, offering a new level of precision and efficiency for tasks ranging from seismic analysis to geological modeling and real-time process monitoring. By reducing the time required for essential processes from months to days, ENERGYai also minimizes operational costs and carbon emissions.

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, CEO of Adnoc Upstream, expressed the company’s vision, stating: “Adnoc is on a mission to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company, using AI to enhance efficiency and value across our operations. We are excited to collaborate with AIQ to scale ENERGYai across our upstream business and strengthen our position as a reliable global energy supplier.”

ENERGYai’s use of large language models will enable engineers to interact directly with Adnoc’s proprietary data, boosting individual productivity and providing new insights and opportunities, according to Al Kaabi.

Magzhan Kenesbai, Acting Managing Director of AIQ, emphasized the significance of the deal: “This contract is a defining moment for AIQ. Together with Adnoc, we have developed a world-first agentic AI solution that is scalable across the entire energy value chain and poised to revolutionize the industry.”

Developed in collaboration with G42 and Microsoft, ENERGYai integrates top-tier technologies, including the Azure cloud stack, agentic AI platform, Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU), and OpenAI models. This innovative solution will provide Adnoc with unparalleled efficiencies, reduce carbon intensity, and help achieve its sustainability goals.

Presight CEO Thomas Pramotedham expressed pride in the partnership, stating: “As the major shareholder of AIQ, we are thrilled to see this collaboration come to life. ENERGYai will set the standard for agentic AI, driving applied intelligence in the UAE and creating a new benchmark for innovation in the energy industry.”

The first operational version of ENERGYai is expected by mid-2025, with five fully operational AI agents covering subsurface operations. It will be deployed across several upstream assets, with plans to expand its use to thousands of additional wells. By the end of the three-year contract, AIQ will have completed the full deployment of ENERGYai across all of Adnoc’s upstream assets, which include more than 28 producing fields, some of the world’s largest and most carbon-efficient oilfields.
