JazzCash has announced that its users can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet, enabling over 13 million monthly active app users to make secure tap-to-pay transactions. By linking JazzCash debit cards, users can turn their smartphones into convenient tools for person-to-merchant (P2M) payments.
This integration enhances JazzCash’s comprehensive payment portfolio, which already includes QR payments, tap-to-pay services, online payments, and debit cards. Customers can link three types of compatible debit cards: the Mastercard Debit Card, Women’s Debit Card, and Virtual Debit Card. The Virtual Debit Card can be instantly set up within the JazzCash app, while physical cards can be requested through the app or USSD for a one-time issuance fee.
Aamir Aftab, Chief Product Officer of JazzCash, emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing financial inclusion. “We are building an open and interoperable ecosystem that empowers millions of Pakistanis with secure and seamless digital payment solutions,” Aftab said. “Partnerships like these are crucial in making financial services accessible to all and promoting a cashless economy.”
Linking a JazzCash debit card to Google Wallet is simple and quick. Once linked, users can make payments by unlocking their phone and holding it near a payment terminal. This functionality offers convenience and security for everyday financial transactions.
Google Wallet utilizes tokenization technology for enhanced security, replacing sensitive card data with a dynamic, device-specific virtual card number to protect against fraud. Additionally, users can safeguard their accounts using ‘Find My Device’ to lock their phone or remotely erase personal data in case of theft or loss.
