Bahrain Ministry of Transportation Hosts Workshop on Sustainable Development Goals

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in Bahrain recently organized an introductory workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This workshop marks the beginning of a series of specialized sessions aimed at raising awareness and building national capacity to achieve the SDGs in line with the Government Plan (2023-2026) and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to developing infrastructure, driving digital transformation, and offering safe, integrated, and sustainable transportation and communication services. These efforts align with the overarching development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Al Dhaen emphasized the ministry’s dedication to incorporating the SDGs into its strategic plan. She noted the ministry’s collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development and relevant UN organizations, ensuring effective coordination at the national level. These initiatives aim to improve infrastructure and regulatory development, advance sustainable transport projects, implement environmentally friendly practices, and promote innovative digital solutions, all while delivering high-quality, efficient, and sustainable services for Bahrain’s citizens and residents.

Dana Emad Hamza, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, presented an overview of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. She highlighted key national achievements across various sectors, particularly in transportation and telecommunications, and underscored the ministry’s commitment to coordinating efforts with government entities to promote sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental sectors.
