HUTCH, through its Future Connect programme, has joined forces with the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) to equip undergraduates with the technical and professional skills essential for success in today’s competitive job market. The partnership, formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 30, 2025, aims to provide students with valuable corporate exposure and insights into key disciplines, including Data Analytics, IT, Networking, Finance, and HR.
Future Connect is a groundbreaking initiative by HUTCH to bridge the gap between academia and industry by engaging undergraduates across Sri Lanka. The programme ensures that students gain practical knowledge and exposure to industry best practices, preparing them for rewarding careers in their chosen fields.
Through this collaboration, HUTCH aims to facilitate direct engagement between students and industry professionals, positioning itself as a key enabler of professional development in Sri Lanka. With numerous sessions and activities planned, HUTCH remains committed to helping students align their skill sets with the evolving demands of the industry, contributing to the broader economic growth of the nation.
Mangala Bandara, General Manager of HUTCH, commented, “This collaboration with SLIIT strengthens our commitment to empowering Sri Lanka’s future professionals by better aligning university education with industry demands. Through these sessions, HUTCH has shared valuable, hands-on insights with students, providing them with a deeper understanding of the industry and the vast career opportunities it offers. As a leading telecom provider in Sri Lanka, we recognize that investing in education and skill development is vital for long-term success and sustainability.”
Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Provost of SLIIT, said, “The partnership between academia and industry is critical in equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical insights, preparing them to excel in the workforce. We are thrilled to partner with HUTCH and are confident that this collaboration will continue to create invaluable opportunities for our students, while also contributing to the growth of Sri Lanka’s IT and business landscape.”
