Visa and Google Launch Contactless Payments via Google Wallet in Jordan

Visa has announced that cardholders in Jordan can now add their Visa cards to Google Wallet, allowing payments through Android and Wear OS devices. Visa cardholders of Arab Bank, InvestBank, and Al Rajhi Bank Jordan can now make contactless payments wherever accepted, enhancing convenience for both locals and tourists.

The integration is part of Visa’s effort to meet the growing demand for digital payment options in Jordan. With mobile phone penetration in Jordan reaching 82.3% in early 2025, this move aligns with the rapid growth of the contactless payment market and the shift toward cashless transactions.

The system operates with enhanced security using tokenization technology, which replaces sensitive card information with a token number, reducing fraud and improving card authorization rates. Visa’s commitment to Jordan’s digital payment ecosystem, supported by Google Pay’s ease of use, allows Jordanians and visitors alike to enjoy a seamless, secure payment experience.

Mario Makary, Vice President and Country Manager for Visa in Levant, stated that this collaboration demonstrates their ongoing commitment to advancing Jordan’s digital payment solutions. Google Pay’s Ben Volk added that the platform offers users a fast, easy, and secure way to pay with confidence on their devices.
