Bahrain Launches “MyGov” App to Streamline Access to Key Government Services

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has launched the “MyGov” app in its initial phase, providing citizens and residents with convenient access to ID card and birth certificate services. The app was recently inaugurated by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology.

Duaa Sultan Mohammed, Deputy Chief Executive for Statistics and Population Registry at iGA, highlighted that offering these popular services through the app is a strategic step to drive digital transformation and improve access to government services. The app allows users to complete transactions seamlessly on a unified digital platform, making it easier for citizens and residents in Bahrain to interact with government services.

The first phase of the app includes a range of ID card services, such as issuing and renewing ID cards, replacing lost or damaged cards, and tracking the status of ID card applications. These services, which collectively account for over 700,000 transactions annually, will now be available on the app for the first time, enhancing accessibility for users.

Additionally, the app enables users to view their birth certificates, as well as the ID cards of children under 18 and domestic workers.

Duaa Sultan stated that iGA will continue to expand the app’s functionality in future phases, aiming to improve the ID card system and offer even more services, while adhering to international standards in customer service and user experience.

The “MyGov” app is part of Bahrain’s innovative digital projects, providing secure, unified access to a wide range of government services. It is linked to the upgraded eKey 2.0 system, which incorporates biometric authentication (face ID) to enhance security and user experience.

The app’s first phase includes 41 government services from nine different entities and offers features such as displaying official documents (ID cards, passports, and birth certificates), government notifications, and more.
