Nepal Telecom to Install New Rs 5 Billion Convergent Real-Time Billing System

Nepal Telecom (NTC) is moving forward with plans to install a new convergent real-time billing (CRTB) system and customer support (CS) system, with an international tender issued for interested firms. The new system, which will cost approximately Rs 5 billion, aims to streamline billing for all of NTC’s services, including GSM mobile, NT Fiber, and internet services, providing a more user-friendly and efficient experience for customers.

The new CRTB system will allow NTC to manage billing and customer support across multiple networks and services through a single platform. This update marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing efforts to improve its billing infrastructure and customer care services. NTC had initially attempted to implement this system in late 2080, but the project was halted due to legal challenges. However, a recent Supreme Court ruling cleared the path for the new tender, which replaces the previous procurement process.

The system is expected to handle 34 million customers across various services such as 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, VoLTE, IoT, FTTH, IPTV, and more. The project will also include customer migration from the existing billing system and recharge system updates. The new system will enhance billing efficiency, facilitate innovative services, and improve customer satisfaction.

Interested companies must submit their applications for the tender by 24 Baisakh, 2082 BS, with a bidding fee of Rs 1 lakh (USD 720) and a bid security of Rs 12.1 crore (USD 870,000). The upgraded system promises to be a game-changer for NTC, improving both its service delivery and operational capabilities.
