Chaudhary Group (CG Corp Global) has placed a bid of nearly 570 million rupees (3.8 million euros) to acquire two 20 MHz blocks in Moldova’s 3600 MHz spectrum. This bid was part of a recent auction conducted by Moldova’s telecommunications regulator, ANRCET, which raised a total of 26.31 million euros from the spectrum allocation.
The auction allocated frequency bands to three telecommunications companies, including CG Telecom’s Moldcell, the state-owned Moldtelecom, and French joint venture Orange Moldova. The spectrum licenses granted were in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz, 1500 MHz, and 3400-3800 MHz frequency ranges. Despite the lower-than-expected revenue, the process saw Moldcell securing 3.8 million euros for its part of the 3600 MHz band.
Orange Moldova emerged as the highest bidder, acquiring significant spectrum in the 1500 MHz range and a large block in the 3600 MHz band. Moldtelecom also secured spectrum in the 700 MHz and 900 MHz bands. The terms of these licenses require telecom companies to pay in five equal installments, with the first payment due immediately and subsequent payments spread over four years.
These new licenses are set to remain valid until March 2050 for most frequency bands, while licenses for the 900 MHz spectrum will expire in November 2029.
