The Egyptian government is focusing on attracting foreign investments and boosting local capacities in key sectors such as rehabilitation services and information technology. Through high-level discussions, the government aims to position Egypt as a global hub for these services, creating jobs and driving economic growth.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, recently met with the Economic Committee of the House of Representatives at the Smart Egypt Creativity Center to discuss the ambitious “Digital Egypt for the Rehabilitation Industry 2022-2026” strategy. The initiative focuses on increasing digital exports, enhancing competitiveness, and creating sustainable job opportunities.
Talaat highlighted the government’s efforts to improve digital infrastructure and support companies in the rehabilitation sector. The goal is to make Egypt a global destination for IT and rehabilitation services by leveraging its competitive advantages and skilled workforce. Currently, over 180 local and international companies operate in Egypt’s IT sector, with more than 200 specialized centers for exporting digital services, up from just 64 companies in 2021.
Minister Abd El-Aaty also emphasized Egypt’s growing relationship with Azerbaijan, pointing to opportunities for bilateral collaboration in sectors focusing on rehabilitation and technology. The government is also preparing the youth for roles in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and other relevant technologies, ensuring future workforce readiness.
Talaat’s strategy includes incentivizing companies to increase digital exports and expanding rehabilitation centers into provincial areas, which will utilize local talent and ensure that the benefits of growth are widely distributed across Egypt. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to both regional development and national digital transformation.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has also supported the formation of specialized advisory committees to engage with experts and drive reforms in relevant sectors, signaling the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration between the public and private sectors for economic growth.
As Egypt strengthens its strategic international partnerships and focuses on digital economy growth, the country is positioning itself as a competitive player in the global marketplace, with a focus on sustainable development and job creation in key sectors.
