RANsemi, a British innovator in wireless semiconductor technology specializing in 5G Open RAN baseband solutions, has announced a strategic collaboration with ACES, a prominent Saudi Arabian neutral host operator. This partnership is aimed at advancing 5G Open RAN and small cell technologies across Saudi Arabia, with significant backing from the Saudi National Technology Development Programme (NTDP), part of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT).
Endorsed and funded by NTDP, this partnership will focus on developing a state-of-the-art 5G Open RAN neutral host small cell system. The collaboration combines RANsemi’s advanced expertise in 5G baseband technologies with ACES’ capabilities in in-house RF design, resulting in a cutting-edge solution poised to transform the telecommunications landscape.
The NTDP, under the MCIT, is committed to positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in information technology by promoting sustainable growth, supporting the expansion of national companies, and encouraging international collaborations. This initiative aims to boost Saudi Arabia’s technological innovation, global presence, and adoption of advanced technologies.
The joint project has already commenced, with both companies dedicated to ensuring its success. A prototype of the system will be showcased at the Small Cells World Summit (SCWS) in London, taking place on June 3-4, 2025.
Dr. Akram Aburas, CEO of ACES, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to collaborate with RANsemi on this transformative project, which will drive the adoption of Open RAN neutral host and private networks not only in Saudi Arabia but beyond. With the support of the NTDP and the guidance of MCIT, we are confident that this partnership will yield significant advancements in 5G Open RAN and small cell deployments.”
Peter Claydon, CEO of RANsemi, echoed the sentiment: “ACES’ vision aligns perfectly with ours at RANsemi, and we are excited to work together on delivering leading Open RAN products. This collaboration highlights our efforts to address real-world challenges through innovative technologies, and we are proud to publicly unveil this 5G Open RAN initiative with ACES.”
